Portsmouth's Short Film Festival
SHORTS::CUT is looking for short films by film and video makers based in the local region. For the past four years we have showcased the work of local filmmaking talent. For 2010, We are looking for entertaining, engaging and thought provoking films in any genre, from drama to comedy, documentary to animation.
At least one of the principal cast, or the writer, director or producer should reside or study in Hampshire, West Sussex or the Isle of Wight, or the film should have been shot predominantly in this area. At this time we are not accepting films from outside this area.
Entering a film to Shorts::Cut is free; you must post your submission to us by June 30, 2010. Please note that the maximum running time permitted is 15 minutes including titles, end credits and music. Films longer than this will not be considered for the screening. You must have clearance for all copyrighted material (such as music) in the submitted film. We may request proof that music or other material has been clear for your use before accepting the film.
Films should be submitted on DVD, DVCAM or DV tape, in PAL format only. We can return the tapes if you include a self addressed envelop with sufficient postage and a letter requesting the tape be returned. We are unable to return DVDs. You can also include images on a CD. Please package tapes and discs carefully and be aware that we will not accept any films posted Cash On Delivery.
The selected films will be screened in August at The Kings Theatre, Albert Road, Southsea. Excerpts from the selected film may also be hosted on the Shorts::Cut website and on the News Guide award website. For general screenings, we accept films from any time, though films completed and screened ebefore January 1st 2009 will not be eligible for the News Guide award for best short film.
Please be aware that while we try and include as many films in the screening as we can, it is not possible to show all the films that are submitted to us in the screening time we have available.
